(Michael Yates), Agent, went to Arch Bloodstock, Agent for Avalon Farm, for $250,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2008 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The bay filly, whose three eighths in :33 2/5 on Sunday was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Long Gone Lady, by All Gone, and is a half sister to stakes placed Britten’s Beauty. more

Hip No. 263, a colt by Yonaguska consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, went to Joseph Brocklebank, Agent for Repole Stable for $210,000 to top the opening session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2008 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The dark bay or brown colt, a half brother to Illinois Derby (G2) winner Recpaturetheglory, is out of stakes placed Cold Awakening, by Dehere. He sped a quarter in :21 3/5 at the Under Tack Show. more

The 2008 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age begins on Tuesday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m.. There are 566 two-year-olds and 29 older horses cataloged for the two-day sale, with Hip No.’s 1 – 296, selling Tuesday and Hip No.’s 297 – 591 selling on Wednesday, June 18.

Da’ Tara ($79) won the 140th Belmont Stakes on Saturday.
Nick Zito trainee Da’ Tara led from wire to wire in Saturday’s 140th Belmont Stakes to deny Big Brown a Triple Crown sweep. Big Brown was eased late in the race and finished last. Story
