Beginning in 2009, Barretts, Fasig-Tipton, Keeneland and Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. will regulate the use of whips by riders in the under tack shows for their sales with stiff penalties and suspensions for riders who do not fallow the regulations. Front toe grabs will be prohibited as well, keeping in line with the policy of the Jockey Clubs Thoroughbred Safety Committee.

August Yearling Sale begins Monday

Yearling Sale is set to begin Monday, August 18th. A total of 1,342
yearlings have been cataloged for the four-day sale, which begins
Monday with 230 Selected Yearlings. The Open Yearling Sale begins
Tuesday with Hip No. 231 and continues through Thursday. All sessions
begin at 10:30 a.m.
